Following a comprehensive investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the perpetrator has been apprehended, prosecuted, and sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The court has ordered restitution to affected victims, with disbursement expected within 90 days.
Background
In Q3 2023 and Q1 2024, Laiton Energy Services Limited entered into what appeared to be a legitimate storage services agreement in Rotterdam, investing over one million USD to secure critical infrastructure for international commodity trading. The transaction was subsequently identified as a sophisticated spoofing scam. Upon discovery, the matter was immediately reported to the FBI and Homeland Security, and Leyton Energie Trading LLC was established to ensure continuity of operations and unwavering commitment to our contractual partners during the investigation period.
